Azide Dextrose Broth Roth
Azide Dextrose Broth is a liquid medium used for the detection and enumeration of enterococci in materials of sanitary significance as
an indication of fecal contamination.
PRINCIPLE
Peptone mix and meat extract are sources of carbon, nitrogen, vitamins and minerals. Dextrose is the fermentable carbohydrate.
Sodium chloride maintains the osmotic balance of the medium. Sodium azide inhibits Gram-negative bacteria.
TECHNIQUE
Inoculate tubes with a suitable amount of the test sample. For samples of 10 ml or more, use double strength broth (ref. 24414). The
enumeration of enterococci is carried out in tubes, according to the most probable number (MPN) method. Incubate at 37°C for 18-48
hours.
INTERPRETATION OF RESULTS
Turbidity indicates microbial growth. Calculate the most probable presumptive number by using the appropriate tables.
STORAGE
10-25°C away from light, until the expiry date on the label or until signs of deterioration or contamination are evident.
WARNING AND PRECAUTIONS
The product does not contain hazardous substances in concentrations exceeding the limits set by current legislation and therefore is not
classified as dangerous. It is nevertheless recommended to consult the safety data sheet for its correct use. The product is designed for
professional use only and must be used by properly trained operators.
DISPOSAL OF WASTE
Disposal of waste must be carried out according to the national and local regulations in force.
